  • My mother grew up with always having fresh ingredients/food around her. I grew up with going to the fresh produce market every week. It is why we take pride in cooking our empanadas with fresh ingredients like garlic and oregano.

  • After a 12 hour day of strip-picking coffee, my grandmother would make homemade dulces (sweets) and helado (ice cream) cooked over leña (firewood). An embedded routine where her day would not end until 11:00 PM-12:00 PM and begin up again at 5:00 AM.

  • Biting into a Lula's Empanada is like biting into the Dominican culture and walking the streets tasting all of the flavors the island has to offer.

Meet Our Founder

“The spices and aroma from the pernil, stewed fish, and beans would fill every room of the house.”
